Eye on the Summit
Timothy Savoy, 29, was working on a master’s degree in public health at The George Washington University when he took a part-time administrative job at a real estate office. After graduation, the broker urged him to pursue a real estate career. His knowledge of demographics and statistics has proved useful: In public health, he studied which people were susceptible to specific diseases and where. Now he studies what people are buying and where. Savoy’s personal passion is travel. He spent his 28th birthday climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Completing the arduous 10-day trek showed him he could achieve anything. “The real estate industry is like a climb,” says Savoy, who has also run a dozen marathons. “It’s a journey, not a single closing. At the end of the year, you look back, and it’s incredible to see your progress.”
