Scramble for The Win
A football scholarship to Boise State University brought Elliot Hoyte, 27, to the U.S. from Plymouth, England. After graduating with a degree in communication, he earned his real estate license in 2018. Money was tight, so he became a master of low-cost marketing. He sat open houses, sometimes four days a week, and posted often on social media about his life and real estate. “The more conversations you have, the more business you have,” says Hoyte. Driving for Uber and making food deliveries kept him afloat, but just barely. Seven months in, with $17 in the bank, he signed his first client. More followed, including five directly from his social media engagement. Ever the football lover, Hoyte launched a crowdfunding campaign that paid for pricey BSU game tickets for low--income fans. “We brought in some much-needed happiness,” he says.
