A Gift Beyond Words
One of Adedoyin “AD” Adedapo’s ninth grade teachers gave him a dictionary, a gift 14 years ago that has left a lasting impression. He and his family had immigrated to the U.S. from Nigeria six years before that, and worked hard to achieve their American dream, building their first home in 2006 only to lose it during the recession. Adedapo began studying for his real estate license while pursuing his MBA, always keeping the needs of underserved communities top-of-mind. After graduating in 2017, Adedapo, 29, and his wife Amanda, who’s his business partner, focused on teachers and first responders. They donate up to 20% of their commissions to assist buyers with closing costs. They’ve hosted lunch-and-learns at local schools, and through their “dictionary project,” provided third -graders with dictionaries to use at home, just as Adedapo’s teacher did for him.
