REALTOR® Safety Pledge

REALTOR® Safety Reimbursement Grant

Safety Course
Offer your members NAR’s Putting REALTOR® Safety First: Safety Strategies for the Modern REALTOR® course, which is designed to instill safety awareness and habits as second nature. REALTOR® associations, proprietary schools, and real estate franchises that have a license with the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council (REBAC) may, and are encouraged to, offer this course. For REALTOR® Associations that do not have a license with REBAC, the $1,000 single-course license agreement fee is waived.
Mental Wellness
In NAR’s Mental Wellness Toolkit, your members will discover a supportive community, expert guidance, and practical tools for stress management and self-care, all aimed at nurturing their mental health.
Safety Webinars & Videos
Encourage your members to register for NAR’s free REALTOR® Safety Webinars, held annually in September, and share the Safety Videos by providing the links in emails, newsletters, or on your social media pages.

Safety Presentations
Presentations and materials include everything you need to educate members about the three keys to staying safe on the job: knowing how to react appropriately to a dangerous situation, being aware of your surroundings, and empowering yourself with careful precautions.
Presentation times depend on audience size and interaction. NAR offers materials for sessions that could last from 30 minutes to three hours.

Prepare the Presentation
Once you've decided which time frame you'll use for presentations, take these steps to get ready:
- Go to the presentation page to find all the materials you need for a comprehensive REALTOR® Safety training course.
- Select the training schedule that works best for your association or office, and adjust it to the amount of time you have allotted for the presentation.
- Choose the format for your training. You can incorporate the video with or without interactive quizzes, and/or the PowerPoint presentation.
- Use the REALTOR® Safety Presentation Guidelines to prepare for each presentation.
- Consider getting copies of the REALTOR® Safety Tips Card, or safety-specific publications from NAR. Visit the REALTOR® Store to purchase.

Carl Carter, Jr., is a REALTOR® and the Founder of the Beverly Carter Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to improving agent safety. His mom, REALTOR® Beverly Carter, lost her life at the hands of a couple posing as clients in 2014. Since his mother's passing, Carl has dedicated as much time as possible to spreading the message of safety. He serves as a Delegate to the National Safety Council, where he advocates for the safety of lone workers. He has a Master and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees from the University of AR in Little Rock, AR, and an Executive Masters in Public Service from the Clinton School of Public Service. Carl also served as the 2020 Immediate Past Chair of NAR’s REALTOR® Safety Advisory Committee.
Carl presented the National Association of REALTORS®’ most highly attended webinar in June 2020, where he shared valuable safety tips learned since the tragic death of his mother.

After a successful career as one of New York’s Finest, Dave Legaz retired as an NYPD Police Sergeant in 2002 after responding to the 9/11 World Trade Center tragedy and losing his partner. As a Real Estate Instructor, he combines his years of law enforcement with real estate as he teaches Agent Safety classes across the country. He is the 2019 NYS Association of REALTORS® (NYSAR) Secretary/Treasurer and was the 2017 Long Island Board of REALTORS® President. He has been an NAR Director since 2013 and a NYSAR Director since 2012. Dave is also on the Board of Directors of the Beverly Carter Foundation, and served as the 2020 Chair of NAR’s REALTOR® Safety Advisory Committee.
Dave presented a REALTOR® Safety Webinar for that National Association of REALTORS® in September 2019 about the importance of recognizing the difference between a prospect and a predator.
