Akron Beacon Journal (Ohio)
As a longtime Akron-area REALTOR®, and as president of the Ohio REALTORS®, I have witnessed firsthand the value that REALTORS® bring to the table for both home sellers and buyers. But following the recent National Association of REALTORS® settlement, I have heard from many people who are confused or misunderstand what the settlement means. I’d like to share the facts.
The settlement is designed to address and improve transparency throughout real estate transactions. While some headlines may suggest otherwise, this settlement truly aims to enhance the home buying and selling experience — to make it easier for people — not to undermine it. The primary goal is to make sure consumers are fully informed and empowered throughout their real estate journey.
REALTORS® are here to help protect your investment. REALTORS® have studied their markets and the legalities of the home buying and selling process. They are skilled in accurate pricing strategies, comprehensive marketing plans, skilled negotiations and assistance navigating complicated legal and regulatory rules. Each requires specialized expertise that most homebuyers and sellers do not possess. REALTORS® are the ones who guide and safeguard their clients through the high-stakes world of real estate. This is why REALTORS® undergo rigorous training, and why we maintain our knowledge and skills through continuing education.
