In less than four years, Deputy has been a foster parent to 22 children, including seven newborns (six had been cocaine exposed) and nine emergency placements. Deputy is the former president of Hunterdon County Foster and Adoptive Families, where she still recruits and trains new foster parents, guides them through the system, advises them about adoption, and helps them exchange equipment like cribs, car seats, and strollers. Deputy also raises funds for Fostering Wishes—which pays for small extras the foster parents can’t afford—such as soccer fees, a yearbook, or music lessons.
