Camp Joy, founded by James Hay almost 30 years ago, serves campers with mental retardation, autism, brain injury, and neurological disorders from age 4 to 70. More than 550 campers attended last year, 40 on scholarship. The camp, which offers horseback riding, crafts, music, and sports, provides an encouraging experience for campers and also a respite for their caregivers.
