Loved It, Bought It, Sold It!

See how a few smart paint choices gave this space a completely new look.

Sometimes a home can appear almost perfect. It has great bones, an amazing floor plan, and just the right high-end features. But it may still lack that special pizazz.

To get that “special pizazz” in a home for one of my recent clients, we found it just took a few coats of fresh paint and some added decorating touches. Shortly after, my client went to sell his home. The house was under contract within 30 hours.

Here’s what we did to makeover this space. This is the before...

Before Renovations

We started in the kitchen. Although the home was built in 2016, the homeowner still felt the space needed a refresher. The goal was to move away from the darker brown hues and the formality of the area. Instead, we sought a brighter and more simplistic style.

The dark cabinets were painted Sherwin Williams’ Marshmallow SW 7001, and the white island painted in Benjamin Moore’s Chelsea Gray 168. The new colors expanded the space and complemented the existing wood floors.

Also, the new dark island became the room’s focal point and set the stage for the new white quartz island counter. The parameter granite counters remained in place, but the island counter was replaced with a white quartz. The old island top was repurposed and recut to replace the dark, mismatched counter on the entertainment bar bank.

The backsplash was swapped out for a pale gray glass subway tile.

The lights were in a dark bronze color finish. The homeowners’ existing furniture slipped right in to compliment the new up-styling.

Here are more “photos” of updates made around the home.

The formal living room also received an update with wall paint and new lighting. The sconces are new, but the chandelier was refreshed with spray paint.

Just like the rest of the home, the homeowners’ existing furniture fit right in. With a bit of styling and interior arrangement, the space is complete!

The rest of the spaces inside the home also received the same treatment, especially the primary bath. The floor was replaced and the space also added a new tub and lighting fixtures as well as a freshly painted vanity.
