The new January 2021 NAR SentriLock Home Showings Report indicates that there was an increase in nationwide foot traffic on a month-over-month basis. Nationally, Sentrilock home showings were up 13% year-over-year. Sentrilock showings were 827,154 in January 2021, up from the 731,798 recorded in January 2020. Showings rose in the South and West regions, but declined in the Midwest and Northeast regions, according to data from SentriLock, LLC, a lockbox company. Total U.S. SentriLock cards rose 16% year-over-year to 210,570. At a national level, showings per card decreased 2% year-over-year.
The Northeast Region Recorded a -18% Year-Over-Year Percent Change in Showings
Northeast region year-over-year showings for January represent an 18% decrease. January y/y percent change in showings shows a rebound from December.
The Midwest Region Showings Decreased 6% Year-Over-Year
Midwest Region showings decreased 6% year-over-year in January. Showings increased from 174,195 in December to 215,931 in January. Although the Midwest region recorded a y/y decrease in showings, the region did see showings increase on a month-over-month basis.
The South Region Showings Increased 1% Year-Over-Year
The Southern Region recorded 267,645 showings in January, up from 200,504 recorded the prior month and represents a 1% increase on a year-over-year basis.
West Region Showings Increased 50% Year-Over-Year
The West Region recorded a 50% year-over-year increase in showings. The West Regions 50% year-over-year increase in showings is three times more than the national level for January.
