Sample Chapter Agreement

Washington Association of REALTORS®

By a majority vote of the members present and qualified to vote, the XYZ Association of REALTORS® shall dissolve itself as an association and immediately thereafter reconstitute itself as the "XYZ Chapter of the Washington REALTORS®."

The XYZ Chapter of the Washington REALTORS® (the Chapter) wants to maintain a presence and visibility in the community and will continue to advocate for homeownership. The Chapter shall be governed by and act in a manner consistent with the policies and procedures set forth in the attached Exhibit 1 as well as the Bylaws of the Washington Association of REALTORS® attached as Exhibit 2.

The Chapter agrees to the following:

  • The Chapter acknowledges this is an "unincorporated" association and is a "Chapter" of the Washington Association of REALTORS®.
  • Within 30 days the Chapter will form a steering committee composed of the following:
    • The Designated Broker or designee from each office represented in the Chapter.
    • Offices with 10 or more brokers shall be allocated one additional representative for a total of two representatives.
    • Offices with 20 or more brokers shall be allocated two additional representatives for a total of three representatives.
  • Within 60 days the Chapter will elect individuals to act on behalf of the Chapter. Each elected position shall serve a term of one (1) year in the elected position.
    • The "Chair" will facilitate all Chapter meetings and serve as a liaison between the Chapter and Washington REALTORS®. Unless otherwise agreed to by the Chapter and Washington REALTORS®, the Chapter delegates responsibility for its day-to-day operations to Washington REALTORS®.
    • The "Chair-elect" who shall carry out such tasks as are delegated by the Chair and will automatically succeed to the position of "Chair."
    • "Immediate Past Chair" who shall serve as the Chapter's one "At Large" director on the Washington Association of REALTORS® board of directors for a term of one (1) year.
  • The Chapter shall provide notification of any and all Chapter events to Washington REALTORS®.
  • The Chapter shall abide by the policies and procedures set forth by the Washington Association of REALTORS®.
