What Is an SRES® Designation, and Who Is It For?
The Seniors Real Estate Specialist® (SRES®) designation is for REALTORS® who want to be able to meet the special needs of maturing Americans when selling, buying, relocating, or refinancing residential or investment properties. By earning the SRES® designation, REALTORS® are prepared to approach mature clients with the best options and information for them to make life-changing decisions.

How to Earn the SRES® Designation
How REALTORS® in the U.S. Earn the SRES® Designation
Education
- Successful completion of the two-day SRES® designation course (classroom or online*)
Exam
- For the online course only, pass the exam at the end of the course with an 80% or better score. The exam is also required by some states for continuing education (CE) credit
Professional Affiliation
- Member in good standing of NAR or cooperating association
- Member in good standing in the SRES® Council

How International REALTOR® Members Earn the SRES® Designation
Education
Professional Affiliation
- Membership in good standing in a cooperating association outside the U.S. which is party to a Bilateral Cooperation Agreement with the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).
Application
- Pay a one-time application fee of USD $180 via our payment portal.
Cost/Maintaining Your SRES® Designation
- Once you've earned the SRES® designation, you will also be an International REALTOR® Member of NAR for the balance of that calendar year.
- Maintaining your NAR International REALTOR® membership with one yearly fee of USD $75 will keep all of your NAR designations and certifications active.
- Please note that if your International REALTOR® membership goes inactive, so will your SRES® designation.
