The Hawai’i REALTORS® Charitable Foundation, the charitable arm of Hawai’i REALTORS®, worked with the REALTORS® Association of Maui over the past nine months to distribute $1.9 million in disaster relief aid following the August 2023 fires on Maui.
The grant is the largest awarded by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Relief Foundation (RRF) since 9/11. More than 800 homeowners and renters whose primary residence was damaged or destroyed by the Maui fires received up to $3,000 in assistance. Applications were accepted from August through December 2023, and several hundred applications are still being processed.
“The Hawai’i REALTORS® Charitable Foundation worked as quickly as possible to distribute these funds to homeowners and renters affected by the fires,” said Hawai’i REALTOR® President Julie Meier. “We were pleased to increase our initial aid distribution from $1.5 million to $1.9 million, with all funds going directly to families and individuals in need.”
