During their annual business planning trip in January 2020, Joel Nath set goals with his four-member team on a Mexican beach, including a target of 120 closings for the year. COVID-19 threw a wrench in the plans, but they adapted. Client events shifted to social media, and contactless “pop-bys” connected them to their sphere. They surpassed their target. “My goals are hit when I’m helping others hit theirs,” says Nath, 29. He’s focused on providing resources to his agents. “We discuss everything, from how to educate buyers to framing a conversation.” Nath emigrated from England after a gap year trip to the U.S. when he was 18. Having walked away from a British military academy scholarship, he spent four years in the U.S. Army and still serves in the Reserves. His sales team now has a partnership with the U.S. Air Force, offering internships to new vets who want to learn about the real estate business.
