The American dream of homeownership was a constant refrain in Brian Tran’s household growing up. The son of Vietnamese immigrants, Tran, 29, recalls one lesson that stuck with him: “‘Buy property, buy property, buy property.’ Their definition of making it was to buy a property to call home.” When his parents bought their first U.S. home in the late 1990s, Tran also got a lesson in business ethics. “The agent who helped my dad did not have his best interest at heart; he just wanted a quick commission. The location was unsafe and unsuitable for our family.” This set the foundation for Tran’s career to help people put down roots and build generational wealth. “It’s not about commission, or ego, or volume,” Tran says. “When you focus on people’s goals, you can set each family up for success.” His entrepreneurial drive goes further: He’s opened two coffee shops and a virtual assistant business.
