John Green lives by the Boy Scout slogan “Do a good turn daily.” A scoutmaster for nearly 50 years, he currently leads almost 100 boys and 60 leaders through weekly meetings, camping trips, and weekend activities. Troop meetings are held in his barn, where he keeps canoes, a ham radio station, beehives, computers, and a rappelling tower. He is also a deacon in his church and is responsible for disbursing about $5,000 a month to those in need.
In addition to being a 2001 Good Neighbor Award Honoree, John Green is also a 2002 Good Neighbor Award Winner.
