Is your association putting on a global event? You might consider borrowing ideas from the Eastern Bergen County Association of REALTORS®’ Global Business Council, which held a “Day of Global Business” last Thursday.
During the day, 30 members attended four classes taught by experts on various global topics, ranging from building international networks to applying Islamic finance to home lending. After a full day of workshop sessions, the EBCBOR Global Business Council hosted a mixer where 50 REALTORS® gathered to discuss their global business experiences and share insights from the day’s sessions.
“We chose Crown Restaurant & Lounge in Palisades Park [N.J.] because it’s a new local business favored by many Korean residents in our area,” said Melissa Piccinich, communications coordinator for EBCBOR and staff liaison to its Global Business Council. “Our board has over 500 REALTORS® of Korean descent. We felt it was important to host an event at a local central location while also helping make our Korean members feel welcome.”
Education is part of these events, but so is making time for networking and fun, and from the looks of the pictures Piccinich posted on EBCBOR’s Flickr page, the Day of Global Business had plenty of that too.
Additionally, the event garnered press coverage in a key place: the Korean Bergen News, an established media outlet in the Korean community in northeastern New Jersey. By getting exposure in a source like that, the Global Business Council raised its profile among a group that can help bring its members new business from overseas.
